Glossary of Bianditz tools
Are you new to the world of hardware, construction or DIY and terms such as pole magnets, rod magnets or burin magnets sound like they are from another world? Don’t worry, you’ve come to the right place.
In the world of hardware hand tools we can find an endless number of references or specific elements to be able to carry out each of the tasks. From well-known tools such as screwdriver bits to tools for removing the sheaths around cables, cable strippers or tools for marking the vertical line on a construction site, plumb bobs.
For this reason, we have created a small dictionary/glossary of some of the Bianditz brand tool terms that you can find in a hardware store.
Screwdriver bits:
Screwdriver bits are an element that is placed on the tip of the screwdriver and are used to screw or unscrew different screws. Depending on the screw we need to loosen, we will use one type of bit or another: PZ, PH, Flat, TX…
If you want to know more about the different types of screwdriver bits, we recommend you to visit this article
Screwdriver:
The screwdriver is the element with which we can loosen the screws we need to tighten or loosen. Depending on the type of screw that we want to manipulate, we will have to resort to a screwdriver or another.
If you want to know more about the different types of Bianditz screwdrivers, visit the following article
Insulated screwdriver:
The insulated screwdriver has the same function as the normal screwdriver, but in this case it is electrically insulated. It is a recurrent tool used by electricians.
Precision screwdriver: Precision screwdrivers have the same function as normal screwdrivers, but in this case they are of a very small size to be able to handle very small screws.
Screwdriver bit holder:
The bit holder screwdriver is a screwdriver handle with a rod on which we can attach any ¼” bit.
Flexible bit holder screwdriver: Like the bit holder screwdriver, it is a tool in which we can put any type of ¼” bit but in this case it has a flexible rod to be able to work with a working angle.
Angled wrenches:
Angled wrenches are a kind of screwdriver shaped like an L. At each end it has a wrench in most cases with hexagonal shape, but we can also find them with TX, PH, PZ head….
If you want to know more about angled wrenches, you can visit the following article.
Razor wrenches:
Razor wrenches are a kind of Swiss army knife but inside we can find all kinds of wrenches for screwing or unscrewing different screws. The most frequent are the hexagonal and TX wrenches.
T-handle wrenches:
The T-handle wrenches are a tool similar to the angled wrenches, but in this case they have an ergonomic handle with which we can work in a more comfortable way and give higher tightening torques.
Bit holder adapter:
Bit holder adapters are a tool with a ¼” shank on one side and a bit holder on the other and is a very useful tool in our day to day life. There is a wide range of bit holders depending on the use to be given in each case. We can find bit holder extensions for working at a certain distance, bit holders for specific works in plasterboard or bit holders that allow us to work in working angles.
If you want to know more about the different types of bit holders, you can visit the following article.
Fixed bit holder extensions:
The fixed bit holder extensions are a very useful tool with which we can attach a ¼” bit and thus reach places that are at a certain distance. In the market we can find different options such as the ones offered by Bianditz from 250mm to 600mm.
Flexible bit holder extensions:
The flexible bit holder extensions are a tool with which we will be able to attach any ¼” bit in order to perform work at a certain distance and also at working angles.
Screwholders: Screw holders are a bit holder that has a magnet on the front that holds the screw and thus we can perform the work with only one hand.
Cup holder adapters: The cup holder adapters are a tool that will allow us to adapt different tools with a socket. We can find SDS or ¼“ type shanks so we can put a ¼”, 3/8“ or ½” socket on the other side.
Bit holder adapters:
The bit holder adapters are used to adapt different types of bit holders with 3/8“, ½” shanks or SDS adapters.
Hollow couplings:
Within the hollow couplings we can find different options depending on the use we are going to give. If we want to put a hexagonal thread in a very long rod we will have to resort to an extra long hollow coupling, but if we want to put a threaded rod in a hole, we will have to resort to a threaded coupling.
Magnetic couplings:
Magnetic couplings are a widely used tool and serve as a screwdriver or screwdriver for hex head screws.
Ratchet screwdriver:
Ratchet screwdrivers have the same function as a normal screwdriver, but have a mechanism with a ratchet so that we do not have to let go of the screwdriver’s hand when screwing or unscrewing.
Magnetic finger:
The magnetic finger is a tool with the shape of a long screwdriver and a powerful magnet at one of its ends, which is used to retrieve objects that have fallen in small spaces. It is very useful among mechanics to recover small pieces that may have fallen between the motor.
Angle bit holders:
Angle bit holders are a type of bit holder that allows us to work in 90-degree workspaces since we exert force on one side and the bit acts on the other at 90 degrees.
“Destorgolpe”:
The “destorgolpe” is a tool in the shape of a screwdriver, to which we exert pressure on the back side and the internal mechanism generates a force stroke with which we can tighten or grind screws that are very tight.
Torque screwdriver:
The dynamometric screwdriver is a tool to which a ¼” tip is placed at one end and we can tighten screws to a specific torque. It is very useful for tightening screws
Screw extractors:
Screw extractors, as the name suggests, are a tool used to extract screws that have lost the imprint on their head in the case of PH, PZ, TX, Flat screws… or screws with deformed heads in the case of hexagonal head screws.
Magnetizers:
The rod magnetizers are pieces that magnetize or demagnetize the rod of our screwdriver. We will want to magnetize the rod in those cases where we want the screw to stick to the screwdriver and we will want to demagnetize the screwdriver in those cases where we want there to be no magnetism around it, as in the case of its use with electronic devices.
Voltage-tester screwdriver:
It is a tool that has a metal tip on one side and an insulated handle on the other, which contains a small resistance inside and is used to see if an electric current is flowing through a pole.
Anti-fall safety straps:
The anti-fall safety straps are a very important element for all those people who work in places at a certain height. With these straps we will tie the screwdriver or tool that we are using to a specific belt and thus we will avoid the fall of the tool.
Granetes:
The granetes are a pointed tool used to mark in advance the place where you want to make a hole.
Punches
The punches are an impact tool with a flat tip shape with which we can push small nails that remain on the surface when making a piece of furniture, for example.
Bit hilder:
The bit hider is an impact tool that is mainly used for embedding bits or in sheet metal work to remove pins.
Chisel:
The chisel is an impact tool used to hammer stone, metal or wood. It can be distinguished from other impact tools by its wedge-shaped face.
Burin
It is an impact tool used for cold hammer work on metals or stone to be able to engrave on these materials. It has a pointed and fine shape.
